We are on the potty train with Jaxson. The very messy potty train. What I know for sure is, I know nothing about potty training boys!
A week or so ago Fri Aug 18th as J & B were going to bed,
I said (fully expecting a melt down):
"Hey Jaxson we are going to wear big boy underwear tomorrow, lets get your clothes out and pick out what underwear you want?"
To my surprise he was excited.
When he woke up on Sat we put big boy underpants on.
There was a little meltdown but not for the reason you would think.
He didn't want to wear the regular briefs.
He wanted to wear the boxer briefs that he got for Easter "the shorts ones".
Thus begins our Potty Train Ride.
The difference between boys and girls.
Jaxson says:
"Me stand up and shoot like fire hose."
"Me sit, point pee pee down, no spray fire hose."
Mommy: "I'll be right back Jaxson, pee pee down buddy."
(Leave him sitting on little potty-he's been back and forth with standing, sitting, big potty & little potty-whatever he is more comfortable with)
*Upon my return
Mommy: "jaxson get the potty seat (Elmo potty seat insert) off your head. Hiney's sit on that, bud."
Jaxson giggling: "yeah me a poopy head".
Mommy: "um no that's gross get it off your head."
*< we are now a commercial for Lysol disinfectant wipes >*
Jaxson: "me no like those underwear. Me like shorts ones to wear under my pants."
.... And then he says running to the bathroom:
"I have to go potty" goes to the potty stands on the stool and leans in points his fire hose and proceeded to poop on the floor. Sad part is as I am cleaning up the floor (my new perfume Lysol) I'm still considering it a success because he knew he needed to go before it came out. But now I realize I need to have the awkward conversation and explain to my three year old boy the that poop doesn't come out of that "pee" hole.
... And he giggles hysterical every. single. time. he pees? What's up with that?
Again I repeat: "the difference between boys and girls."
Mommy: "I'll be right back Jaxson, pee pee down buddy."

Then a few days later ...
Bella tried to stand and pee!
Yup had the Girls have va-jay jays and boys have a penis convo again.
Girls can NOT stand and pee!
So on day 6 of our ride on the Potty train I will not be going to Target. Your welcome fellow target shoppers. I'm going to go tomorrow instead, when the va-jay-jay and penis convo isn't fresh on the minds of my three year olds. That's all they've talked about this afternoon among-st them selves.
On day one and two Daddy helped.
*a few of these are iPad images.
Strong Boy and by day 3 we had Poopy on the potty!
No privacy in this house!
I am pretty sure that this picture will be one of those in a slide show when he is older.
(maybe quite a few from this post will make a future slide show when he is older-sorry buddy but you are just too adorable, Mommy can't help it)
We are on day 11 on our Potty Train Ride.
It is going so much better than I imagined.
We've only had three accidents.
We've taken a successfully dry trip out of the house in just undies (and pants but not a pull up).
We've had 6 dry nights and 8 dry days.
I am really impressed with how well it is going.
He has a whole new collection of matchbox cars.
For the first three days every time he peed in the potty he got a new car/truck.
A little bigger prize for poopy (an action figure paw patrol or star-wars).
Starting on day 4 he gets 3 M&M's for every pee and a small poopy prize.
Now on day 11 M&M's only when he remembers.
We are still doing a small poopy prize since he is going on the potty most of the time.
But sometimes he waits until night time when we put the pull up on (he's done that three times).
All in all I am happy with our progress.
He is doing great!
It's a little bitter sweet for me as my baby is growing up.
With my baby boy out of diapers and looking like a big boy
I can see a lot of tears on August 18 when my little's head off to their first day of school.
Most, if not all of those tears will be from me.
