Spring Swing Surprise...

Last year at the end of the summer when swing sets were all on sale, about a month before Kylie's birthday, I had an Idea. One that we talked about on a few occasions before we even owned our house. Jimmy and I always dreamed we would have a swing set in our back yard for our kids. But as it turns out our ideas were a little different. My thought was since the big wooden ones were very expensive to get a simple swing set. My Hubby the engineer in him was thinking bigger. He was thinking he could build one from scratch. So last year we agreed, if we are going to do it we should so it right but that meant that it would not be a birthday present. We thought maybe an Easter or Spring Surprise. So this January Jimmy started his research and found the perfect swing set he wanted to build. By the end of March he had the plans and the list of supplies he would need. While at first our ideas were a little different, our dream was the same. A swing set that our kids would grow up playing on for hours and make priceless memories. My amazing husband built this swing set which makes it even more special. He still has a few finishing touches, the roof, playhouse under the slide and Kylie wants to add a telescope, steering wheel and she is pushing for a chalk board (Mommy can't stand chalk-the feel-the touch-the gritty sound, gives me the shivers). Since the hanging of the swings, we have been outside every night.

Check out our cement anchors. Big Jim (aka Grampy) stopped by to help Daddy and says this swing set is so solid for get under the stairs for storms, just hide under the play house. It is so sturdy that Mommy is even swinging on it. Lets just say there will not be any pictures of that but it's a lot of fun. I forgot how much fun and carefree it is to swing.

Thank you Daddy for building this awesome Swing set, we are going to have a lot of fun years playing on this sturdy swing.

*PS Kylie made Daddy buy an extra big girl swing just in case Sissy, Keira, Corinne or Aiden stop by. She was very insistent on this! So was Mommy but when I mentioned it to Daddy he said "Kylie already told me I had to go back and get a second swing."
