"Mary Novak, Mahanoy City, died Sunday Oct 19th 2014 afternoon at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah.
Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Jubin Kulpowicz.
Mary was a graduate of J.W. Cooper High School, and during World War II, she worked for Budd Corp., where she welded manifolds for P38, B12 and B24 bombers. Her family and friends were proud of their "Rosie the Riveter" and her war effort.
She lived in Mahanoy City since 1945 and had worked for Calnon laundry, the White Owl cigar factory for 17 years and last worked for City Shirt.
Mary was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish, Mahanoy City, and the parish Sodality. She was known as a church "Bundukie" maker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chick" Novak, in 1963; a brother, Anthony Kulpowicz; and sisters, Wanda Webb and Helen Bowser.
Surviving are nieces and nephews."
