I know I mentioned this before but...
In preparation for my new business venture, I have been studying photography.
I have read countless books, searched online, and took a macro course on line.
I know when everyone looks at my pictures, you all think they are great.
Most of those pictures are taken in the camera's auto mode.
I know I am very critical and never happy with my photos.
My friend Katie McAnally explains it best
"I've got a nice camera that takes nice pictures in auto, but it can do better--if I can."
I am so passionate about my pictures.
I love telling the story through the pictures.
I love capturing memories and milestones an having those memories forever!
I am bound and determined to be happy with my photos.
My friend Katie can over today, the teacher in her took over and so many light bulbs went off.
With her permission when we get back from the beach I am going to post her explanation of the three major components of pictures.
Exposure, Shutter Speed, and Aperture!
For now I will just share a few snap shots from today.
I shot all of these photos in manual today!
I am so proud of myself.
I can't wait to use what I learned at the beach this week.
This is one of my favorites.
When I was down stairs packing up I heard Kylie talking to Nana.
So I ran up stairs thinking that she called her on my cell phone with out asking.
When I got upstairs, she was reading.
Not really reading but listening and telling Bella and Jaxson:
"Now listen carefully, this is Nana and she is telling the story."
When she got done with that book she grabbed her other one.
"This is Grandma and she lives in New York, do you remember Grandma?"
This brought tears to my eyes.
Hearing her tell Bella and Jaxson all about Grandma and Nana.
I am sure that when I gave these books to my Grandmother and My Mom to record at Christmas time last year, they felt silly and didn't really want to do them.
This was one of our best gifts, that they will have forever!
So do you think it will all fit in the truck?
Same stuff just a different view from above.
Just as we got ready to load up, it started to storm.
I never would have gotten these pictures with out Katie's lesson today!
It is raining in all three of these shots.
I didn't catch the lightening but I got the beautiful colors of the stormy sky.
It was a great day! I am so excited about what I learned today!
Thanks Katie McAnally

You are a fast learner! :) Nice work on all of them, but especially those storm pictures. I'm game to get together any time. Enjoy your trip and I look forward to seeing all of your photos when you get back!
