Karate...

We spend a lot of time outside.
On the weekends, we are usually outside all day.
They have been eating lunch and dinner outside.

We wanted to find something for Jaxson to do all year round since the girls do dance.
We thought we would try Karate.
A place near our house has trial sessions.
At our orientation we got Jaxson's outfit called a "Gi".
Three years old is challenging for any task and we weren't sure if he was ready for this kind of commitment.
So off we went for our first trial class.
1st challenge was he wouldn't do it without Bella.
No problem, Bella wanted to do it anyway.
2nd challenge he doesn't like the Gi (outfit).
3rd challenge told him he doesn't have to do it if he doesn't want to, but he does.

So on the second trial we got them both in the Gi (outfit).
They both did very well learning the moves.
The instructor plays games and keeps them interested.
We thought they did great considering they are 3.
They were also the only 3 yr old's there.
A total of 3 in the class, a 5 yr old boy was in there class too.

Here are a few pictures of what they learned.

No outfit for Jaxson's first class.

Third Class.
He was in the mood.

These next few pictures are so funny.
If you look at them like a flip book, you will see what they learned.
Jaxson doing the punches and kicks.
Bella is doing a move that she learned while Jaxson was not in the mood to participate.
You put your hand up by the opposite cheek and swing it across to a stiff stop with your arm out.
They are also making the sounds with every move.
It is more like a grunt with every move. HUH!

We are going to pursue Karate.
At the end of our trial we were happy with the progress and the kids loved it.
But we didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling that the instructor wanted to teach them.
I don't think he has a lot of experience with three year old's.
Everyday Jaxson and Bella ask if it is Karate day.
